Dear Mr Metcalfe
Request for information
Thank you for your email of 1 July 2009, in which you requested the following information from the Ministry of Justice (MoJ).
How much the Ministry of Justice has spent on the creation and maintenance of web sites and web services for each of the last 3 years.
Your request has been passed to me because I have responsibility for answering requests which relate to Information and Communications Technology in the Department, and has been handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).
I can confirm that the department holds the information you are seeking, although data only exists for the last two financial years, as the Ministry of Justice was formed in May 2007.
The information you have requested is included in responses to parliamentary questions asked by Stephen O'Brien, MP on 23 April 2008 and by Andrew Rosindell, MP on 3 July 2009. The first of these notes the costs of the most redesign of the corporate website, the second gives maintenance costs for websites (which include web services), for the financial years since the Ministry of Justice was formed. As part of our obligations under the FOIA, the Ministry of Justice has an independent review process. If you are dissatisfied with this decision, you may write to request an internal review. The internal review will be carried out by someone who did not make the original decision, and they will re-assess how the Department handled the original request.
If you wish to request an internal review, please write or send an email to the Data Access and Compliance Unit within two months of the date of this letter, at the following address:
