Dear Ms Burnip,

I am writing to confirm that the Directorate has now completed its search for the information which you requested on 28th June 2009. Your questions are reproduced below, together with our replies.

How many social workers are there working in adult care?

How many of these are working with disabled people under 60?

The social work service in Salford is structured in teams for particular `client' groups (older people, physical disability, learning difficulty, etc). Each team will provide a social work service predominantly, but not exclusively, for `their' client group. The physical disability and learning difficulty teams provide a service predominantly for people aged 18 - 64. We have 11 social workers on our physical disability team and 9 on our learning difficulty team.

How many adults are you providing some sort of community care service to in total?

How many allocated cases are there in adult care?

How many unallocated cases are there in adult care?

What is the ratio of adult care cases to each social worker.

Average = 13

What is the average time between referral for a service and assessment of needs

What is the average time between referral and provision of the necessary service.

What is your total adult care budget for 2009-2010

Adult care net expenditure budget for 2009/10 is £56.79m.

What proportion of this is spent providing care in the community through Direct Payments or Individual Budgets.

Proportion spent on direct payments is 6.6%.

What proportion of this is spent on residential care provision.

Proportion spent on residential care is 28.3%.

What is the average length of time for provision of aids.

Following assessment delivery of equipment is within 7 days unless this is a bespoke item or a special order; the majority of equipment is delivered within 2 - 3 days.

What is the average length of time for provision of adaptations.

During the period 1 July 2008 - 30 June 2009 383 adaptations were completed; the average waiting time for these was 5 weeks.
