1) How many Social Workers are working in adult care in Dudley MBC ?

Response

As at 31/3/09 there are a total of 134 Social Workers in Adult Care - 114 Full Time Equivalent.

Response

It is not possible to provide this information.

4) How many allocated cases are there in adult care ?

Response

As at 16/7/09 there were a total of 1163 allocated cases across the

locality teams ( including hospitals). These cases are allocated to 103

Social Workers

Cases are obviously allocated for assessment and Care Planning.

However after the 21 day review cases would only remain on a SW

workload if they meet the “allocation req” criteria, ie, stability

safeguarding or mental capacity issues.

5) How many un-allocated cases in adult care ?

Response

As at 16/7/09 there was a total of 863 unallocated cases across the locality

teams (including hospitals). By unallocated we need to be clear that these are

not people waiting for assessment, but are people who have been assessed,

have a service, have had a review and do not meet the “allocation req”

criteria. These people are simply awaiting their next review.

6) How many “held “ cases are there in adult care?

Response

Please provide clarification of your definition of “held”

7) What is the ratio of adult care cases to each social worker ?

Response

Based on the allocated figures above, this equates to approximately 11 cases

per social worker.

This needs clarification. - Some SW s will hold no cases at all as they do

permanent duty. Other SW s who do reviews may have 11 cases this week,

but they could be a different 11 cases to the week before, or the week after,

as they have a high turnover rate.
