FREEDOM OF INFORMATION - ENERGY AND CLIMATE CHANGE UNIT
Thank you for your email of 25 June requesting information on the Energy and Climate Change Unit at the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills.
I will respond to each of your questions in turn:
The official name of the unit is the Energy and Climate Change Unit.
It was established in November 2008 following Machinery of Government changes that saw the creation of the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).
The membership of the unit comprises 17 full-time equivalent posts.
There have been no meetings held between members of the unit and industry representatives on the issue of the security of world oil supplies.
There have been no meetings held by the unit to discuss peak oil.
There have been no strategy papers produced by the unit since its inception.
