Dear T Hall, 
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request dated 24 June 2009. Your request has 
been considered under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).  Please 
find below a copy of your request together with the corresponding response.   
 
The Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission took over responsibility for the child 
maintenance system, including the Child Support Agency on 1 November 2008. Your request 
has therefore been dealt with by the Commission’s Freedom of Information focal point. 
 
Request  
1) Since 03/03/03 (please list as annual figures), how many NRP's cases on both CSCS 
(CS1) & CS2 have accrued arrears, either in part or fully due to agency delay, 
maladministration and/or error/s? 
 
2) Since 03/03/03 (please list as annual figures), how many cases pertaining to 1), have been 
subjected to agency enforcement action, including; regular maintenance and/or arrears 
repayments of 30% or more of income, agency enforced AEO's/DEO's or LO's? 
 
3) Since commencement of the agency steer to collect arrears within a two year period or 
less (please list as annual figures), how many cases pertaining to 2), have been subjected to 
parallel enforcement action? 
 
Response 
 
The information you have requested is not available.  Management information relating to the 
volume of cases with outstanding arrears is available for both current and old systems. 
However, this information cannot be broken down as to the reason why the arrears were 
originally accrued. 
 
The Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission does not collate details of the reason 
for taking a particular enforcement action. However, the total volume of different enforcement 
actions undertaken by the Agency is listed in Table 21 of the Child Support Agency Quarterly 
Summary of Statistics and can be accessed at:
