Dear Mr Onyek,
I am writing in response to your request for information about how Claimant's post received in Glasgow Benefit Delivery Office is tracked and statistics of claimant's post that was lost by the Glasgow Benefit Delivery Office] which you requested on 21 June 2009.
Mail received in Glasgow Benefit Delivery Centre is sorted directly by Royal Mail. Further distribution is made within sections dealing with specific aspects of a claim. This office has no tracking system for all pieces of mail received but keeps records of certain documents and forms within the computer systems where appropriate.
Records are kept of Recorded Delivery mail received by the office.
No records are kept of "lost mail". Any enquiry indicating such a loss may have occurred is dealt with on an individual basis having regard to the individual circumstances.
If you are not satisfied with my handling of your request please tell me why within two calendar months of the date of this letter. I will then arrange for someone to conduct an internal review of your request and my handling. The review will be conducted by another officer, usually of a more senior grade to myself. This person will have taken no part in my original decision. You will be advised of their decision in writing.
If you are still not content with the outcome of the internal review you have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner to look into the way your request has been handled. Please note that generally the Commissioner cannot make a decision unless you have first exhausted DWP's own complaints procedure. The Commissioner can be contacted at:
