Thank you for your Information Request dated 17 June 2009.

Your request is detailed below in italics together with the Council's response in bold.

As a part of some wider research I would like to request details under the Freedom of Information Act of highways maintenance contracts that the council keeps, for the construction and repair of highways and roads within the authority.  If available, I would be highly appreciative if you could include contract scope, length, value and partner within this information.

Response:

I am advised that the only current contract relating to the construction or maintenance of highways is with May Guerney WSP. The contract commenced in March 2008 for a period of 8 years with potential to extend for a further 4 years. The value is dependent upon the budget set by the Council for highways maintenance from year to year. I understand however that expenditure under the contract in the current financial year is expected to be between £40 and £44 million depending on Council budget priorities as the year progresses. The contract scope is for all highways functions and maintenance under £500,000. Any works or projects over this amount are subject to the tender process.
