INTERVIEW CHECKLIST FOR MANAGERS

Before the interview:

Set the interview room up

Ensure each member of the panel have copies of application forms, job descriptions, person specification

Ensure that the interview chairperson has Interview/Selection Assessment Forms for completion for each interviewee

Read the Interview Guidance Notes if necessary

5

Agree questions/interview format with the panel

Agree note taking arrangements with the panel

During the interview:

Greet the interviewee

Introductions of panel to interviewee

Inform interviewee of interview format/length of interview

Inform interviewee that notes will be taken during interview

Give brief overview of job/department (can be done later in the interview if wished)

Questions relating to person specification

Clarification of information on application form - check dates, gaps, sickness level

Invite questions from interviewee (annual leave entitlements, and salary scales, can be found here)

Inform interviewee of what will happen next/when outcome of interview will be known

Thank interviewee for coming

After the interview (before the interviewee has left):

Check and photocopy eligibility to work/registration/qualification documentation if interviewee has been asked to bring these to interview

Collect conduct form if interviewee has been asked to bring to interview

After the interview (after the interviewee has left):

Discuss interview with panel and complete Interview/Selection Assessment Form for interviewee

Agree with panel who is going to inform successful and unsuccessful interviewees, when and how

Keep all notes of interview and Interview/Selection Assessment Forms together (until you send all appointment paperwork to Recruitment)
