Dear Andrew Smith,
Your Reference: 00491/1/0910/1
Thank you for your email sent on 16th June 2009, which was received in this office on 7th July. I have addressed each of your questions below;
1) The Northampton County Court Bulk Centre (CCBC) is not a corporation trading for profit.
2) The CCBC is a public court, funded by public money.
3) All employees are Officers of the Court, or Public Servants.
4) For more information on our procedures, please click on the following link to our web pages - County Court Bulk Centre (CCBC) I would like to confirm that it is not for this office to decide whether a claim is valid, no checks are made to claims prior to issue. When a claim is issued the defendant receives a claim pack comprising of an Acknowledgemnt of Service form a Defence form and an Admission form. If the claim is defended, the case will be transferred to a County Court.
5) If a defendant wishes to contest the jurisdiction of the Court, they may do so may completing the Acknowledgment of Service form to this affect. Please note that upon selecting this option, the defendant is indicating that they feel this case should not be dealt with at County Court level. If the defendant does not respond to the claim within the required time frame, the claimant may enter Judgment by default.
I trust that this satisfactorily explains the points raised, but should you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at the above address.
Yours sincerely
Sue Hasdell
