FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST

Thank you for your email of 23 July in relation the response to your earlier request (ref. 60161) for information in relation to the Ministry of Justice to:-

1) Please can you tell me how many weeks' (or days') worth of correspondence I would be able to get within the cost limit.

(2) Please can you tell me how Royal correspondence is filed and how it is indexed.

(3) Please can you advise me as to what tables, lists, databases or similar exist that are relevant to my request.

Your request has been passed to me because I have responsibility for answering requests which relate to Minister's Private Offices and has been handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

In relation to your first question, we do not hold recorded information stating how many weeks or days worth of correspondence requester could get within the cost limit. To identify this, we would need to locate, retrieve and extract all relevant information, that would, in essence, take longer than 3.5 working days and would there engage section 12.

With regard to your second question, the process for filing and indexing correspondence is determined by individual business units across the department. Therefore, in relation to your third question, there are no centrally collated tables, lists, databases or data management systems which are relevant to your request.

If you are unhappy with the result of your request for information, you may request an internal review within two calendar months of the date of this letter by writing at the above address.
