Thank you for your email which was received by the University on 10 June 2009 timed 09:37
hours, requesting the following:
1.
How many FoI requests have been received by the University of Glasgow
between 1st September 2008 and 1st June 2009?
2.
For the FoI requests that the University received between 1 September 2008 and
1 May 2009, how many resulted in internal reviews? How many of these internal
reviews provided additional information to the original response?
3.
How many of FoI requests received by the University between 1st September
2008 and 1st May 2009 were not processed within the 20 days legal limit?
University’s Response
1.
The University’s Data Protection and Freedom of Information Office have received 142
Freedom of Information requests for information during the period 1 September 2008
to 1 June 2009.
Please note, that these figures relate to requests received directly by, or referred to,
the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Office. Where an information request
is received directly by a Faculty/Department, and the information is released in full or
section 17 [Information Not Held] or section 25 [Information otherwise accessible] is
applicable, the Faculty/Department will respond to the applicant directly and this
request for information will not be recorded by the DP & FOI Office. In those instances

where an exemption to release is applicable, requests are passed to and recorded by
the DP/FOI Office.

For requests for information during the period 1 September 2008 to 1 May 2009, the
University received 11 requests that resulted in an internal review. Of these 11
requests, 1 provided information in addition to that provided in the original response.
3.
During the period 1 September 2008 to 1 May 2009, the University did not respond to
a request for information within the required twenty day timescale on 25 occasions.
The supply of documents under the terms of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002
does not give the applicant or whoever receives the information any right to re-use it in such a
way that might infringe the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (for example, by making
multiple copies, publishing or otherwise distributing the information to other individuals and the
public). The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (Consequential Modifications) Order
2004 ensured that Section 50 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (“CDPA”)
applies to the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (“FOISA”).
Breach of copyright law is an actionable offence and the University expressly reserves its
rights and remedies available to it pursuant to the CDPA and common law. Further information
