Brent borough-wide Controlled Drinking Zone
From 15th December 2007
As of 15th December 2007, the London
Borough of Brent will become a Controlled
Drinking Zone. This means that it will be an
offence for any person to drink alcohol in any
public place within the borough when
requested by a police officer not to do so.
If a police officer reasonably believes that a
person
is,
or
has
been,
consuming
intoxicating liquor within Brent, the officer may
require the person concerned:
a) not to consume in that place anything
which is, or which the officer reasonably
believes to be, intoxicating liquor
b) to surrender anything in his/her possession
which is, or which the officer reasonably
believes to be, intoxicating liquor or a
container for such liquor (other than a sealed
container)
An
officer
may
dispose
of
anything
surrendered to him/her as above.
An
A person who fails without reasonable excuse to comply with a requirement imposed upon
him/her as above will commit an offence and will be liable to a fixed penalty or a fine to the
maximum of level two (currently £50 and £500 respectively).
