Dear Ms Davis
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REFERENCE NUMBER 0474/09
I refer to your request for information dated 5 June 2009, which was received by Strathclyde
Police on same date. Your request has now been considered and on 3 July 2009, a decision
was made to grant your request. As such, the information you have requested is detailed
below.
1. What is your procedure regarding placing a job vacancy advert for any positions within
your FoI/DP/Information Governance Departments? Specifically do you have a contract
with an external recruitment agency? If so, please provide me with the company name,
address and the job title of the person who would be your chief contact.
All external vacancies for Strathclyde Police are advertised on the Strathclyde Police website
and also through Jobcentre Plus. Please note that prior to May 2009 our vacancies were also
published on the Scotcareers website. In addition, depending on the grade and nature of a
post, some posts are also advertised in relevant newspapers.
Strathclyde Police currently has a contract with Reed recruitment agency. This company
provides in the recruitment of short-term, temporary agency workers for the force. The
agency is based at 150 Hope Street, Glasgow, G2 6NN and the appropriate contact would be
the Business Manager.
2. Please provide me with a breakdown of the total costs charged to you the last time you
advertised such a vacancy and please provide me with a list of the publications that the
advert appeared in, the title of the job vacancy and the number of applicants that applied.
The last time such a post was advertised was in April 2009 for a Freedom of Information
Officer. There were 133 applicants and the costs and a list of publications the advert
appeared in were as follows.
Herald/Sunday Herald - £1049.06 +VAT
S1 Jobs - £325 +VAT
Scotcareers – Individual costs are not recorded for this as the basis of the contract was an
annual fixed fee which allowed unlimited advert placements.
Jobcentre Plus – No cost
Strathclyde Police website – No cost
