 The safety of our officers is at the forefront of planning any operation and officers receive the appropriate training and equipment to carry out their duties as safely as possible. We monitor the number of assaults on our officers and examine the causes and contributing factors. From this we can amend standard operating procedures and training to reduce risk of injury wherever possible. The MPS now has a greater number of officers than ever before - 32,766. In addition, we have 4,625 PCSOs and 2,597 Specials.
