Request for information - No 10 Petition

Further to my letter of 26 June, some more information has come to light in connection with your request for copies of our correspondence which lead to the Government response that there had been a 100% compliance rate with the LGOs recommendations in the previous two years.

The Department for Communities and Local Government has drawn to our attention an email we had sent them on 11 November 2008 confirming that the compliance rate in 2007/08 was 100%. The relevant extracts from this exchange are enclosed.

In his response to Mr McAllister, Mr Karney correctly stated that the compliance rate on reports issued in 2007/08 was 100%. But he did not check Mr McAllister's assumption that the compliance rate on reports issued in 2006/07 was 100%. As Mr Karney used the word `also', Mr McAllister (entirely reasonably) took this as a confirmation of his assumption. In fact there had been one 2006/07 case where there had been non-compliance and it had been necessary for the LGO subsequently to issue a Statement.

I apologise for omitting this email exchange from my previous response to your FOIA request.
