03 June 2009
Dear Mr McPherson

Freedom of Information Act 2000: First Aid at Work

Thank you for your enquiry dated 30 May 2009, in which you asked for:
“details of any reward or remuneration awarded to members of qualified staff
performing the role of a First Aider within your department.”

Officials who act as first aiders in Treasury buildings volunteer for this role.  They
receive appropriate training but do not receive formal annual allowances for carrying
out this duty as part of the pay policy. In June 2008, however, Treasury recognised
their personal contribution to health and safety by thanking each of them with a small
gift of shopping vouchers worth £15.
I hope you find this response helpful and would draw your attention to the copyright
notice below. If you have any queries about this letter, please contact me. It will be
helpful to us if you remember to quote the reference number above in any future
communications.
