Thank you for your email which was received by the University on 29 May 2009 timed 0843 
hours, requesting the following: 
 
 
1.  I understand that the University has appointed a Director of Student Services. When 
and where was this job advertised? 
 
I am also interested to know: 
 
2. Since 1st October 2008, the number of people appointed to posts within the 
University Services with a salary greater than £60,000. 
 
3. The number of current vacant posts in the University Services offering salaries of 
greater than £60,000. 
 
4. Since 1st October 2008, the number of University Services' staff who have resigned 
from posts with salaries greater than £60,000. 
 
University’s Response 
 
1.  I understand that the University has appointed a Director of Student Services. When 
and where was this job advertised? 
The Director of Student Services is a new title that has been conferred on an existing member 
of staff who is undertaking additional management responsibilities.  This is not a new post and 
therefore was not advertised. 
 
2. Since 1st October 2008, the number of people appointed to posts within the 
University Services with a salary greater than £60,000.

There is currently one vacant post offering a salary greater than £60,000.  
 
4. Since 1st October 2008, the number of University Services' staff who have resigned 
from posts with salaries greater than £60,000. 
Two members of University Services’ staff with salaries great than £60,000 have resigned 
from posts since 1st October 2008. 
 
 
The supply of documents under the terms of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 
does not give the applicant or whoever receives the information any right to re-use it in such a 
way that might infringe the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (for example, by making 
multiple copies, publishing or otherwise distributing the information to other individuals and the 
public). The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (Consequential Modifications) Order 
2004 ensured that Section 50 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (“CDPA”) 
applies to the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (“FOISA”).   
 
Breach of copyright law is an actionable offence and the University expressly reserves its 
rights and remedies available to it pursuant to the CDPA and common law. Further information
