Vision Report
The Barnard Castle Vision document was reviewed following final amendments to reflect consultation responses. It was agreed that:
Prioritisation will be around areas of action rather than projects to maximise potential
Innovation and opportunity will guide choice of areas of action and clustering of projects
Prosperity, economic development and a positive future for young people in Teesdale are the cornerstones underpinning the Vision and will guide delivery
The Barnard Castle Vision document should be seen as a living document subject to constant review and consultation

The Barnard Castle Vision Sub-Group (Deborah Jenkins, Andrew Walker, Kirsten Francis, Pat Graham, Shaun Stuart, Sue Berresford) will meet weekly to progress prioritisation for delivery (initial suggestions related to connectivity, local food, leadership, tourism, sites and premises, business growth)
The Sub-Group will work with local partners to identify strands for delivery
A meeting will be held with Ekos and the Sub-Group to finalise the consultancy contract and agree final actions
The Sub-Group will report to Steering Group on a monthly basis
Communications
A progress briefing will be prepared for media circulation by the end of May, followed by regular briefings

Opportunities for communication of progress includes a variety of media including potential to use internet blogs, Teesdale Radio, Teesdale Mercury. Communications will continue to be through Durham County Council press office, working with the ONE communications team

Targets
End May - liaison to ensure that the BC Vision. Economic Strategy and Retail Distinctiveness Study are integrated within the Teesdale Community Strategy (action sub-group)
End May - conclude contract with Ekos and agree final actions (action sub-group)
End May - public progress briefing (action Sue Berresford)
End June - timetable of public briefings agreed (action sub-group)
End June - clear 12 month action plan to be ready (action sub-group)
End June - bid underway to establish delivery team (action sub-group)
End June - engage with board member of Regeneration Committee of One NorthEast (action Deborah Jenkins/Kirsten Francis)
