Dear Mr Snowdome
Request for Information - Need for Additional Time to Reply
Your correspondence dated Saturday 23 May 2009 has been considered to be a request for
information in accordance with either the Environmental Information Regulations 2004, or
Freedom of Information Act 2000. Due to the volume and complexity of the information that
you have requested, it will take longer than the usual 20 working days to fully assess the
information you require and prepare a response. We are considering whether your request
should be considered under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 or Freedom of
Information Act 2000. Your request is voluminous and is likely to be very costly to assess
what information, if any, is held by the Met Office, as IPCC AR4 covers a five year period.
If you would like to refine your request further and state any particular date or dates that would
be of interest to you, and any person(s), we will look into this for you.
As required by Regulation 7 of EIR 2004, and Section 12 of the FOI Act 2000, I am therefore,
writing to inform you that a response will be despatched by us no later than 20 working days,
after we receive your refined request, should you wish to refine.
If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request for information you may request an
internal review. Any request for an internal review, which must be received within forty days of
receipt of this letter, should be addressed to [the Director of Information Exploitation, 6th Floor,
MOD Main Building, Whitehall, SW1A 2HB. (email
[email address]).
If you are not then content with the outcome of the internal review, you have the right to apply
directly to the Information Commissioner who can be contacted at the Information
Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow Cheshire SK9 5AF.
Yours sincerely,
Marion Archer
FOI Manager
