Dear Applicant
I write in connection with your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 which was received by Sussex Police on 22 May.
1. Our Policy on employee selection states that “no job applicant or employee shall receive less favourable treatment or consideration during recruitment and selection on the grounds of race, colour, religion or belief, nationality, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender, age, disability, marital status or part-time status will be justified as necessary on operational grounds.”
2. We have no upper age limit for such recruitment;
3. The normal retirement age for police staff is 65 although individuals may apply to be retained beyond that point;
4. Information regarding birth date is not part of the selection process and is not available to those carrying out shortlisting.

Right of Appeal
Sussex Police provides you the right to request a re-examination of your case under its review procedure.
