I refer to your correspondence of 18 July 2008, which was received by Strathclyde Police on
that date.
Please could you forward to me a copy of any targets for numbers of arrests which are held

If this exists, please supply these figures broken down into divisions.
Your request for information has now been considered and I can advise you that Strathclyde
Police does not hold any of the information requested by you. In terms of Section 17 of the

By way of explanation, Strathclyde Police does not set specific targets for ‘numbers of
arrests’.
By way of assistance however I can inform you that the Force’s programme of work for the
period 2007 – 2010 is set out in the Force Strategy (previously known as the Force Business
Plan). Set within this document is a section entitled ‘Operational Focus’ which outlines
details of the Force’s Control Strategy. The Control Strategy covers the areas of highest
priority for the Force and identifies the most significant threats or risks that must be
successfully overcome if the Force is to serve our local community and play its part in
successful national and international law enforcement. The Control Strategy details the aims,
objectives, performance indicators and targets within these priorities and outlines who from
within the Force Executive is responsible for delivery.
