I write in connection with your request for information dated 15 May 2009. I note you seek access to the following information:
Is there a policy for which officers are allowed to drive certain vehicles or are all officers allowed to drive any vehicle owned by the force?
Following receipt of your request searches were conducted within North Yorkshire Police to locate information relevant to your request.
I can confirm that North Yorkshire Police hold the information requested.
North Yorkshire Police do have a policy and I have attached the policy statement. Please see attachment 1
North Yorkshire Police operates a tiered driving certification scheme. This consists of:
Occasional driver
Basic driver
Standard driver
Advanced driver
Specialist vehicle driver
Complaint Rights
