Dear Mr Addison,
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST 3730/2009
I write in connection with your request received by Kent Police on 12th May 2009. I am
conscious that this response finds you some time after the statutory time limit permitted to a
public authority to respond to such requests has passed and for the lateness of this response I
apologise.
Following receipt of your request searches were conducted within Kent Police and I can now
respond as follows:
Question 1. Can I please have a copy of any written agreements between Kent Police and the
RSPB?
Question 2. Can you please also tell me your working relationship with the RSPB?
Answer: There is not at present any formalised agreement between Kent Police and the RSPB.
However, should the RSPB receive information from a member of the public concerning
offences against birds then they will ask the informantās consent for details to be passed to the
police. Information can then be passed to the police via secure e-mail.
Kent Police have a dedicated wildlife officer who works in partnership with a number of
organisations, including the RSPB. This will not solely address enforcement issues as education
is also an important element in crime prevention.
Thank you for your interest in Kent Police and I hope that the information we have been able to
provide is of use to you. If you feel that your request has not been properly handled or are
otherwise dissatisfied with the outcome of your request, you have the right to complain. A
sheet, which summarises your right to complain, is enclosed with this response.
Yours sincerely,
