Dear Mr Leavy
Freedom of Information Act 2000: MP Expenses
Thank you for your enquiry dated 08 May 2009, in which you asked:
“Could you please supply a list for 2005-2007 that details MPs claims that were refused,
what they were for, for how much and for which MP.”
I can confirm that HM Treasury does not hold recorded information relevant to your
enquiry.
To be helpful to you, expenses and allowances for Members of the House of
Commons and House of Lords are administered by Parliament. Information
regarding current allowances for members of both Houses can be found at:
http://www.parliament.uk/mpslordsandoffices/finances.cfm This site also includes links to:
• “The Green Book”, which sets out the current principles and rules for
allowances for Members of the House of Commons
• “Members Reimbursement Scheme” which provides a guide for Members of
the House of Lords.
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the House of Commons and the House
of Lords are separate public authorities. In respect of your request, you may wish to
submit a Freedom of Information request to the House of Commons at the following
