REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ON TOTAL COST OF THE SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT

Thank you for your request for information relating to “how much the Scottish Parliament (i.e. Devolution) has cost” which we received on 8 May 2009. Your request has been handled in accordance with the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and the following information is supplied with this letter:

As requested this has been provided in a generalised heading format and is broken down per year since inception but excludes non cash charges such as depreciation and cost of capital. It also includes budgets and costs for a number of Officeholders such as the Scottish Information Commissioner which are not directly funded by other UK Parliaments/Assemblies. Actual and budget expenditure is listed by year for the financial years 1999/2000 to 2007-08 and budget expenditure only for the year 2008/09. Further details of actual expenditure can be found the in the Annual Accounts which are published on the Scottish Parliament website:

Expenditure prior to 1999/2000 is not held.
