Mr P Ashby 28 April 2009
Via e-mail:
Dear Mr Ashby,
Requests for Information - Acknowledgement
Thank you for your communications received on Monday 27 April 2009 seeking all information about the incidents involving HMS NOTTINGHAM in 2002 and HMS SOUTHAMPTON in 1988. Your enquiries have been considered to be requests for information in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
This letter is to acknowledge receipt of both these requests and to inform you that generally, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 a response is to be given within 20 working days of your application i.e. 27 May 2009. However, I have considered your enquiries in detail and would now ask you to refine the requests as they could be interpreted in different ways. Would the narrative, findings and recommendations of the Boards of Inquiry - if they are still held - be sufficient to answer the first part of your questions about HMS NOTTINGHAM and HMS SOUTHAMPTON?
A copy of your requests as received by this office is attached.
The requests will be placed on hold until clarification has been received.
Yours sincerely
Anita McDonald
