CLEA UPDATE 3
PROGRESS WITH CLEA PROGRAMME
The Soil Guideline Value Task Force (SGVTF) has been considering the definition of
'significant possibility of significant harm' (SPOSH) and how this relates to the current
UK Soil Guideline Values.  Defra are now evaluating a number of issues relating to the
assessment of potential health risks from land contamination, building on the work of
the Task Force.  The Environment Agency and other government departments and
agencies, including the Health Protection Agency, are supporting these considerations.
Defra and the Environment Agency do not intend to publish further Toxicological or
Soil Guideline Value Reports until this work is further advanced and the way forward is
clear.  Defra plans to keep key stakeholders informed as the work continues.
