RE: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT REQUEST
Thank you for your email dated 19th April 2009.
I have reviewed your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, and my response is as follows:
The total expenditure of the Council on leisure and recreation in 2007/08 was £513,255.
The total expenditure of the Council on children's play services and facilities in the same year for those aged under 16 years was £179,970. None of the £179,970 spent on playground equipment was funded from Big Lottery or other Central Government funding.
The estimated population of the authority area in the same year was 67,000.
Unfortunately we do not hold the following information which you have requested:-
The total estimated population aged under 16 years in 2007/08.
The proportion of use of leisure centres and recreation facilities by children aged under 16 years in the same period.
The % use of Libraries run by the authority by children aged under 16 in the same period.
The expenditure by the authority under Section 508 of the Education Act 1996, and what proportion went to voluntary agencies.
Right to Review
If you wish to have this decision reviewed please write to the Executive Director - Business outlining the points of your review.
If you are still not satisfied with the Council's decision following any review you may appeal the Council's decision to the Information Commissioners Officer, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire. SK9 5AF.
