Information Request NBC868-1186
With reference to your request regarding children's play provision for 2007/08, please find detailed below Northampton Borough Council's in point turn.
The total expenditure in the financial year 2007/08 for the Council Leisure facilities was £4,707,302.70.
The Council spent in total £743,394.63 on facilities for children. Out of this figure £34,726.74 was spent on repairs and the balance was for new play services and facilities. Please note that children solely under the age of 16 do not use these facilities.
The Council received £562,236.48 in Government grants and no contributions were received in Big Lottery funding. The Council contributed £37,251.41 to the figure in no.2 above.
The Council can confirm that during the above financial year 242,054 children under the age of 16 used their Leisure Centres. This includes school use, swimming lessons and other courses, parties and general visits.
