Our Ref: FOI 2873
15th May 2009
Email response to Mr Gareth Walker
Dear Mr Walker
Request for Information - Freedom of Information Act 2000
Further to your email dated 14th May 2009 where you are requesting further information relating to a response provided to you:
Thanks for your response. You state that you don't record the actual cost of dealing with FOI requests but you do log the number of hours spent on them. Would it be possible then to provide me with the number of hours spent on FOI requests broken down in the same way by financial year instead.
As in our response to you dated 22nd April 2009 where we provided the total number of Freedom of Information requests received from 2005 to end of 2008 (please see the table below).
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION FIGURES 2005-2008
Year |
Number of Requests |
2005 |
647 |
2006 |
355 |
2007 |
484 |
2008 |
689 |
As stated in our response that although we record the time spent on each request we do not record the cost of responding to each request. In order to provide you with a total number of hours spent on each FOI request, we would need to go into 2175 applications. This would exceed the fees limit, the appropriate limit specified in the regulations is £450.00.
If you are not satisfied with the response you may ask for an internal review. If subsequently you are not satisfied with the Council's decision you may apply to the Information Commissioner for a decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at the following address:
