We are not aware of any planning permission, although the Strategic Land Planning Trust / DLP Planning carried out consultation with the public in about September 2008. They also met with planning officers at the Council, and were advised that planning permission would be very unlikely.

 

The reason for this is that the site is designated as Green Belt, a long standing designation aimed at preventing urban sprawl, protecting the countryside surrounding cities and assisting urban regeneration, by encouraging the redevelopment of urban land. Planning policy on Green Belt is set by national government in Planning Policy Statement 2 and by regional government in the London Plan. Both of these documents stress the importance of maintaining the permanence and integrity of the Green Belt, which is taken forward at the local level by Hounslow Council’s Unitary Development Plan (2003). It should be noted that the Council is the process of renewing its Unitary Development Plan. It will be replaced the Local Development Framework Core Strategy, which will cover Green Belt designation and policy, and will need to be generally in line with the approach of national and regional policy. We expect to consult on this document early in 2010 (at which point a written representation to challenge the Green Belt designation of the site could be made), and to adopt it in 2011. As part of this, we will be reviewing the boundaries of the Green Belt, but would not expect such a large area of land to lose its Green Belt status. Proposals for such alterations to the Green Belt would need to show exceptional circumstances. Any planning application for development inappropriate in the Green Belt would also need to demonstrate very special circumstances.

Hi Sir/Mdm,

 

I owned 12 plots of land at the above location from the Profitable Plots Singapore. They had bought it from Taylor Woodrow late 2006 when it was sold for £3.15m (source: UK land registry).

 

I was told that the planning permission is around the corner and target to get approval in 2011. Currently the company is lobbying with the local council.

 

I would like to affirm if the above is true and expected courses of action to be carried out.
