Brendan,
You're right, there is no change re Profitable Plots/ `Concorde Village'. See below recent emails. We haven't got far on the Green Belt study but will be doing it this year. However, it would be pretty unlikely we'd de-designate the site as Green Belt as I can't really see that we or the SoS would be convinced of there being exceptional circumstances (we don't need this land for either residential or employment development as we have enough brownfield to meet demand/ targets).
Thanks,
Gillian

For info… seems something has recently re-sparked interest.

Gillian

Mr -- I refer to your email query of the 27th with respect to the above.
The area of land that Profitable Plots call 'Concorde Village' is open land in the Borough of Hounslow close to its boundary with Spelthorne. Some time ago it was subject to sand and gravel extraction but since then it has 'returned to nature'. It now forms part of the metropolitan green belt and a large part of it has been designated as a nature conservation area within Hounslow's development plan - the Unitary Development Plan (UDP) as modified by the Greater London Authority's London Plan. You can see both of these documents online.
The significance of the green belt designation if that new development for housing (or most other types of building) is very unlikely to be granted planning permission. If you go to hyperlink, and follow the links to the UDP, you will find more detail about green belt policy at page 65 of the UDP. Nature conservation area designation would also discourage significant development proposals. I can not say that the area in question would never get permission for a residential development but I can say that, in the present circumstances, the prospects for such a development are extremely poor, in my opinion. There are no valid planning permissions or applications for such a proposal. The Council has also given no encouragement to anyone representing the site's owners that could be reasonably seen as an encouragement to expect that such a proposal might be acceptable. I am unaware of any current proposals that are likely to change these circumstances.
Before writing this email I noted that you are a London resident and I tried to contact you on the phone number you gave. I wanted to speak to you about the information you had been given about the investment potential of this site. If you would be happy to do so I would be grateful if you would phone me on 0208 583 4898.
