Freedom of information requests to

Chester City Council

A local council

On 1st April 2009, Chester City and Cheshire County Councils split their combined area and become two unitary authorities - Cheshire West and Chester, and Cheshire East. The existing councils of Ellesmere Port and Neston, Chester, Crewe and Nantwich, Congleton, Macclesfield and Vale Royal are abolished.

Cheshire East Council is formed from Macclesfield Borough Council, Congleton and Crewe & Nantwich Borough Councils, together with part of Cheshire County Council.

Cheshire West & Chester Council is formed from Ellesmere Port & Neston, Chester & Vale Royal councils, together with part of Cheshire County Council.

Cheshire East Council will take responsibility for any in-progress FOI reviews. Those requests originally submitted to Cheshire County Council and which are subject to review will be dealt with jointly by Cheshire East and Cheshire West.

Cheshire East Council is now the custodian of information previously held by the District and County councils; any requests for this information should be directed to the new council.

All new FOI requests for information held by the former Chester City Council should be made to Cheshire West & Chester Council
